Being a daughter, becoming mother, always being a daughter. Elle voudrait l'ailleurs encore plays with the permutation of femininity in a continuum of changes. What is the driving force of the mother, what is her language, her will of strength and absence ? Where does the daughter escape, with her flaws and scars, in her unquenched desire of the elsewhere ? This book dives into the experience of maternity, unveiling a mother's pain of loss and the complexities of filial love. Giving live, giving (yourself) death, is that what it truly is, to be one with love for the living ? Diane Régimbald's poetry offers a singular passage through memories that ties tales of women and their thirst for freedom to the plural encounters of themselves. The artworks of Sophie Lanctôt seamlessly weave through the poems with a vivid and sensitive presence and invite to this exit of the world permitted by creativity.

l’essence d’être fille
reprendra le terrain
la mère en moi courbera la tête
mais n’effacera jamais
sa tâche
qui de plus coupable qu’elle
pour affronter les batailles ?
pour dire oui
à ce qu’elle tait
ce désir toujours de voler
de prendre les airs
corps ouvert
à l’échappée

Anne-Marie and Catherine are the inseparable friends who founded the brand in 2009. Their sustainable and minimalist clothing collections are designed in their Mile End workshop-boutique, then gently manufactured in Montreal from natural fiber textiles.

To learn more about the brand

We have been experimenting and refining our processes for a dozen years to work with the best natural fibers available. We select our materials for their durability, comfort, aesthetic properties and for the conditions in which they were produced. We give priority to suppliers close to our workshop. Many of our jerseys and knits are made in Canada, while some woven fabrics come from the United States. For more specialized materials, we work with Japan and some European countries (mainly Italy and northern countries). It is essential for us to make sure that the workers' conditions are fair, and the best way to be sure is to choose countries that have a charter of individual rights similar to ours!

We ship from our Mile End (Montreal) workshop in an average of 3 to 5 business days. In Canada, delivery is free for orders of 150$ before taxes and more. The shipping rate is fixed for Quebec and Ontario at 10$ and for the rest of Canada, 15$. For local delivery in Montreal, the fee is 7$ for orders under 150$. By entering your shipping address, you will know if the local delivery option is available to you.

Exchanges are accepted within 10 days of receipt of the package. A notice must be sent to info@atelier-b.ca to obtain return authorization. Items must be unworn and the package must include your name and order number. Shipping costs for the return are at the customer's expense and atelier b will pay for the return of the second item. A credit may be applied, no refund.

Masks, underwear and sale items are on final sale.

Orders sewn in our workshop are at regular price (if the pattern is on sale, the discount does not apply to a piece sewn to order). Production time may vary from 4 to 6 weeks. Items from past collections sewn to order have a 10% surcharge. We can also make alterations to the pattern, in which case there will be an additional charge depending on the situation which can vary from 10 to 20%.
