For its 17th edition, entitled When Nature Feels, MOMENTA Biennial of Images humbly urges us to consider environmental justice and its intersections with social justice as a way of feeling and sensing, but also of analyzing and activating. While science is needed more than ever - if only to address the climate emergency - our planetary assemblage of multiplicities yearns for forms of knowing, feeling, and acting that result in different arrangements of coexistence.

A thirst for living together - for love - resonates insistently in the exhibitions as well as in this book, which invite us to imagine other ways of shaping the world. The artists and authors encourage us to form intimate affinities with non-human lives and worlds. They propose that we listen to - observe, feel, touch - the land, the water and the air, that we speak to them, not to interpret them from a distance, nor to seize or exploit them, but with the intention of echoing, vibrating and communing with them. Or perhaps, with no purpose at all. Their works and writings make room for narratives that inhabit the blurred boundaries between technologies and ancient wisdoms, interweaving human and non-human forms of knowledge. They celebrate our relationship with nature, the fact that we are nature.

Fully illustrated in color, the exhibition catalog includes three essays, artist texts and portfolios on each of the 51 artists participating in this edition.
