A version of our cottage sweater made in collaboration with Montloup and Marie-les-bains. Made from a French terry knit of organic cotton and Rambouillet wool, this sweater is dyed in a gradient with American madder. As we chose to dye this garment naturally, the color varies between pink and orange. Round neckline, low armhole and loose fit.

About the Montloup x atelier b collaboration

Capsule collection created following an invitation from Lila Rousselet, the founder of Montloupa Montreal-based company that creates and designs knitted fabrics in Canada. Lila wanted to showcase the most ethical and responsible fibers available. The designs are made from Foxfibre naturally colored organic cotton knits®. The cotton is sourced from Viriditas farm in California. Sally is a pioneer in the production of organic colored cotton and a global leader in sustainable agriculture. The Foxfibre® is a registered trademark she developed. The wool is sourced from Lani Estill, who owns the company Lani's Lanabased in northern California. Rambouillet wool is very similar to merino wool in its quality and softness. The vegetable dyeing is done by Marie-Eve Dion of Marie-Les-Bainslocated in Eastman, Quebec. It is an honor for us to work with these women who make our industry progress!

Material

French terry knit developed by Montloup. 55% GOTS certified organic Indian cotton, 45% Randouillet wool.

Care

Natural dyes require special care. They are sensitive to PH and UV rays. It is therefore necessary to be careful with acidic elements such as lemon juice and vinegar, which act as a bleach. It is also suggested not to dry this garment directly in the sun.

Note that natural dyes do not have the same tenacity as synthetic dyes. When choosing to work with this type of pigment one must expect a product that will be altered beautifully by time.

By following the care instructions, the color of this sweater will stay vibrant longer! Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle or wash by hand. Use a PH neutral soap and avoid softeners and soaps containing soda crystals. Dry flat, away from direct sunlight.

Designed in our Mile End workshop by Catherine, Anne-Marie and the entire team. Cut and sewn in independent workshops in Montreal, within a five kilometer radius of our workshop.

Anne-Marie and Catherine are the inseparable friends who founded the brand in 2009. Their sustainable and minimalist clothing collections are designed in their Mile End workshop-boutique, then gently manufactured in Montreal from natural fiber textiles.
