Catherine Métivier

Catherine Métivier is a clothing designer based in Tiohtià:ke / Montreal. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from the Université du Québec à Montréal. Since 2009, she has co-directed the design studio atelier b, where she explores sustainable practices.

Her design practice revolves around eco-design and product development. Her primary medium is textiles, but she is also drawn to broader aspects of fabrication, experimenting with other natural materials such as wood and paper. Alongside her role at atelier b, Catherine teaches as a lecturer in the Department of Design and Computational Arts at Concordia University.

Interests: slow design, sustainable design, eco-design, mass production, fabrication, knowledge transfer, teaching.
