Even before the shop in Mile End, Catherine and I were already regular visitors. We’d bike up from Verdun on weekends and spend the day exploring the bustling streets and stores. The neighborhood has changed a lot over the past ten years, but that same vibrant feeling is still there.

Atelier Universel is an artisanal printing and bookbinding studio, a well-kept secret from the industrial neighborhood of old Rosemont. Since 2016, Stéphanie St-Jean Aubre and Manuel Mineau have been working to offer a personalized service to a wide range of artists, entrepreneurs and artisans.
Cheville, what binds us: meeting with the artists behind the exhibition
I went to meet Sophia Borowska and Teresa Dorey, respectively weaving artist and ceramic artist, who exhibited at galerie atelier b for the Cheville, exhibition last September. We discussed their practices and inspirations, but also feminism, precariousness and the importance of community.
